Virtus Bologna Eyes Luka Vildoza.

Since Luka Vildoza is expected (sooner or later) to be released from Panathinaikos, the waiting list for his services is growing. According to an Italian publication, Virtus Bologna has already positioned itself to claim the talented guard.

Before Vildoza is officially released by Panathinaikos, it appears that nearly half of the Euroleague teams have their sights set on him. The 28-year-old Argentine guard and former NBA player will not be donning the “green” jersey of Panathinaikos in the upcoming season (2024-25). Instead, Virtus Bologna is considering offering him a spot on their roster.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the northern Italian club is keen on adding the Panathinaikos guard to their team, intending to utilize him in a role similar to the one he excelled in during the 2022-23 season with Red Star. During that period, Vildoza averaged 12.2 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game, marking the best statistics of his career.

Successful Yet Challenging Year.

Vildoza’s past season with Panathinaikos was marked by team success as they won the Euroleague and the Greek championship. However, on a personal level, the Argentine struggled to find consistent playing time, role, and rhythm. With the recent acquisition of Lorenzo Brown, Vildoza has become surplus to requirements at Panathinaikos.

As he approaches free agency, Vildoza is expected to receive numerous proposals. One from Virtus Bologna seems highly probable, while there are also rumors that Olympiacos may express interest.
