Valencia out of the Euroleague: Which players are leaving?

Valencia Basket has already been eliminated from the Euroleague and is poised to compete in the Eurocup next season, pending official confirmation in the coming weeks. The Taronja club has begun preparations for this transition, which includes a significant overhaul of the squad and the selection of a new coach.

Clear departures from Valencia include Harper and Robertson, who has signed for another year, necessitating compensation. Additionally, the club is not activating the +1 option in Pangos’ contract. The futures of Puerto, Rivers, and Touré remain uncertain due to various factors such as limited playing time, poor performance, and injuries.

Furthermore, four players, namely Inglis, Davies, Ojeleye, and Jones, are considering retirement following Valencia’s exit from the Euroleague. Despite Jones’ recent long-term renewal, the existence of a relatively low retirement clause has attracted interest from several Euroleague teams. Ojeleye is also attracting attention from multiple suitors, including Barcelona. Considering Davis’ high wages, Valencia may opt to release him to alleviate financial burdens.

On the signing front, Valencia has secured Croatian forward Luka Bozic and Gran Canaria center Ethan Hap. Additionally, domestic players like Sergio de Larrea, Lucas Mari, and Guillaume Ferrado are pushing for opportunities.

Regarding coaching, Chavi Albert has temporarily taken the reins after the dismissal of Alex Mubroux. Jaka Lakovic remains a favorite within the Taronja entity, although his exit clause is contingent on joining the Euroleague. The club will assess Albert’s performance in upcoming games and potential ACB playoffs before making a decision on the coaching position.
