Panathinaikos Coach Ergin Ataman Discusses Future Transfers and NBA Aspirations.

In an interview with Fanatik, Panathinaikos coach and three-time Euroleague champion Ergin Ataman shared insights about potentially working in the NBA and revealed the summer transfer plans for the “greens.”

Summer Plans for Panathinaikos.

Ataman, whose team recently concluded a successful season, spoke about the planning efforts for the upcoming season. He made a significant revelation about the team’s strategy:

“A maximum of two players will leave, and two will come. They will be important players; President Giannakopoulos will not bring ordinary players but those who will make a difference.”

One of these key additions is Lorenzo Brown, who has agreed to terms and signed with Panathinaikos. The team is also seeking another player to bolster their front line.

Contract and Future Prospects.

Ataman confirmed his ongoing commitment to Panathinaikos:

“I have a contract with Panathinaikos for one more year, and of course, I am happy.”

However, he acknowledged the possibility of future changes:

“If the team does not want me to extend my contract, then in the summer of 2025, I will be free.”

NBA Ambitions.

Ataman also addressed the prospect of coaching in the NBA:

“If I have an offer from the NBA, then I will think about it. I know people on the other side of the Atlantic are watching me. At the moment, I am at the top level in Europe, and I don’t have an offer from the NBA, but if it comes, then I’ll do the best I can there.”
