Panathinaikos AKTOR Strengthens Roster for European Champions: Šarić High on List.

Panathinaikos AKTOR aims to complete the roster of the European Champions by strengthening their front line, with the acquisition of a tall player expected within days. After Theis, Šarić is also high on their list.

Strong Start to Transfer Season.

Panathinaikos AKTOR kicked off this season’s transfer period by acquiring Lorenzo Brown. This move makes the European Champions the team with the most complete and dangerous perimeter line in the EuroLeague, while also completing 50% of their transfer plan. Head coach Ergin Ataman, in collaboration with Sani Bečirovič and Dimitris Kontos, decided to acquire two key players.

Reinforcing the Front Line.

The second transfer target for Panathinaikos AKTOR is a player to complete the team’s front line, joining Matthias Lessort, Dinos Mitoglou, Juancho Hernangomez, and Kostas Antetokounmpo. All indications suggest that this will be a quality player who will significantly strengthen the team’s lineup of tall players.

Targeting Versatile Players.

Following the resolution of the Vezenkov case, for whom the “Greens” inquired about the conditions, as admitted by Ergin Ataman, the Turkish coach has identified some ideal solutions to complete the European Champions’ roster. These players ideally play both the “5” (center) and the “4” (power forward) positions.

Considering NBA Options.

Panathinaikos is looking at options from the NBA, mainly European players considering a return from across the Atlantic to become key players in the EuroLeague.

Daniel Theis is one option that the club has already considered in previous reports, and his name remains high on their list. The German center has some offers from the NBA but has yet to decide whether to accept a complementary role or return to Europe to be a leading player.

Dario Šarić, who is in Greece for the Pre-Olympic Tournament, is another excellent tall player option who was recently released by the Warriors and is being seriously considered by Panathinaikos. The 2.08m forward primarily plays the “4” but can also play the “5”. He has a good shot, and last season, in 64 games with Steph Curry’s team, he averaged 8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists with 37.6% from the three-point range.

Other Potential European Returnees.

Other European tall players are also contemplating leaving their NBA dreams behind. Spanish player Usman Garuba, after two years in Houston, didn’t get many opportunities with the Warriors (just six games) and is already in discussions with Real Madrid for a return.

Another interesting option is Croatian Luka Šamanić. The 24-year-old primarily plays the “4” and less so the “5”. He has a “killer” shot and is considered a player who can develop further in Europe. He was released by the Utah Jazz, where he averaged 4.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 43 games last season, showing good performances towards the end of the regular season when he got more playing time.

Panathinaikos AKTOR is on a mission to build an even stronger team, aiming to defend their title as European Champions by strategically enhancing their roster with top-tier talent.
