Mumbru Alex was dismissed from Valencia Basket.

After Valencia Basket’s devastating defeat to ASVEL Villeurbanne, Mumbru Alex was promptly dismissed from the team. To recap, Valencia suffered a defeat at Pabellón Fuente de San Luis with a score of 69-98, at a time when they still harbored hopes of making the play-in. The disappointment was twofold, as not only did the team lose any target in the Euroleague competition, but they also suffered a significant defeat against ASVEL, a team currently second to last in the standings with 8 wins and 25 losses. Assistant coach Xavi Albert has taken over as Valencia’s interim head coach for their final remaining Euroleague game at Stark Arena against Partizan.

The journey of Mumbru Alex at Valencia Basket.

Alex Mumbrú has had the opportunity to enjoy a successful run in this year’s Euroleague, as the Valencia team had a great start and has been one of the strong teams this year. The team adopted a defensive approach to their games and managed to defeat formidable opponents, instilling confidence in the team’s fans that they would achieve significant success. Indeed, by the middle of the season, they were in the top 8, and everything seemed to indicate that Valencia would secure a place in the playoffs with relative ease. However, in their last 10 games, spanning from round 24 to round 33, they suffered 8 defeats and managed to secure just two wins, causing the team to plummet to 13th place in the standings with 14 wins and 19 defeats, along with a negative point differential (PTS+/PTS-) of -83.

If Valencia could manage to win three more matches in their last 10 games, including the match against ASVEL, they would have secured their place in the play-in.

The future of Valencia Basket for the next season.

Valencia has a competitive squad with excellent players who are capable of securing high positions in the standings. They have successfully won difficult away games but have not capitalized on the strength of their home court this year, which would undoubtedly have improved their position in the Euroleague standings. Looking ahead to the upcoming season, with the right additions and effective management by the coaching staff, we can expect an even stronger team with greater goals and aspirations.
