Juan Peñarroya Emerges as a Top Candidate for Barcelona Coach.

Juan Peñarroya has also entered the equation for Barcelona, with Spanish media targeting him for the Blaugrana.

Barcelona’s Search for a New Manager.

Barcelona, after a highly unsuccessful season, have parted ways with Roger Grimau and are looking for their next manager. Itoudis, Pascual, and Lakovic are among the candidates being considered by the Catalans. According to a well-known Spanish media outlet, these three are not alone, as Juan Peñarroya has also joined the cast.

Peñarroya as the Leading Candidate.

According to Encestando, the aforementioned three are not a priority for the Blaugrana, with the former Baskonia coach being their number one target.

Peñarroya’s Career and Achievements.

The 55-year-old technician, who is presented as the chosen one of the Catalans, started his career with Olesa, while his name became widely known in Spain thanks to his stint with Andorra, which he led from the country’s third division to Liga Endesa. Peñarroya also led the team to the 2017–18 EuroCup in his eighth consecutive season at the club.

Success with Burgos and Beyond.

In 2019, he took over the technical leadership of Burgos, with which he won back-to-back Basketball Champions League titles (2020, 2021) and celebrated the Intercontinental Cup in 2021. Valencia was the next destination of his career, with which he reached the semi-finals of the ACB in 2022. Baskonia is the last club on his CV. He sat on the team’s bench from the 2022-23 season, with the Basques removing him at the start of this season due to negative results in Spain and the EuroLeague.

High-Level Competition for Barcelona’s Bench.

As can be seen, the competition for Barcelona’s bench is intense, with several coaches of the highest level vying for the position.
